RECOMMENDATION
We rate CLICKSOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES (CKSW) a BUY. This is driven by several positive factors, which we
believe should have a greater impact than any weaknesses, and should give investors a better performance
opportunity than most stocks we cover. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its
robust revenue growth, largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures, solid
stock price performance, impressive record of earnings per share growth and compelling growth in net
income. Although no company is perfect, currently we do not see any significant weaknesses which are
likely to detract from the generally positive outlook.
HIGHLIGHTS
The revenue growth came in higher than the industry average of 21.0%. Since the same quarter one year
prior, revenues rose by 31.7%. This growth in revenue appears to have trickled down to the company's bottom
line, improving the earnings per share.
CKSW has no debt to speak of therefore resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of zero, which we consider to be a
relatively favorable sign. To add to this, CKSW has a quick ratio of 2.14, which demonstrates the ability of the
company to cover short-term liquidity needs.
Powered by its strong earnings growth of 50.00% and other important driving factors, this stock has surged by
173.95% over the past year, outperforming the rise in the S&P 500 Index during the same period. Regarding
the stock's future course, although almost any stock can fall in a broad market decline, CKSW should
continue to move higher despite the fact that it has already enjoyed a very nice gain in the past year.
CLICKSOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES reported significant earnings per share improvement in the most recent
quarter compared to the same quarter a year ago. The company has demonstrated a pattern of positive
earnings per share growth over the past two years. We feel that this trend should continue. During the past
fiscal year, CLICKSOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES turned its bottom line around by earning $0.08 versus -$0.07 in
the prior year. This year, the market expects an improvement in earnings ($0.13 versus $0.08).
The net income growth from the same quarter one year ago has significantly exceeded that of the S&P 500
and the Software industry. The net income increased by 117.6% when compared to the same quarter one year
prior, rising from $0.44 million to $0.96 million.
VALUATION
BUY. The current P/E ratio indicates a significant discount compared to an average of 77.59 for the Software
industry and a significant premium compared to the S&P 500 average of 17.71. For additional comparison, its
price-to-book ratio of 10.14 indicates a significant premium versus the S&P 500 average of 2.86 and a
significant premium versus the industry average of 7.00. The price-to-sales ratio is well above the S&P 500
average, but well below the industry average. The valuation analysis reveals that, CLICKSOFTWARE
TECHNOLOGIES seems to be trading at a discount to investment alternatives within the industry.
